Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 3:20-21 ESV
Then Job answered the Lord and said: “I know that you can do all things,
and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.”Job 42:1-2 ESV
O God, You are greater than any problem I face. Your mighty power parted the Red Sea, healed the blind and the lame, even raised Lazarus from the dead. In my own life You have answered seemingly impossible prayers. I do know You are able and nothing is too hard for you. (Jeremiah 32:17)
And yet, I still struggle when You appear silent and my prayers go unanswered. When You do not respond or at least act in ways I can see. My heart aches when friends continue to grieve over the broken situations in their lives. We pray together, begging You to respond but nothing changes. The brokenness continues to thrive while the restoration waits unseen.
In those moments of wrestling with You, strengthen my faith. Teach me to:
- Pray continually, persisting in asking. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
- Pray confidently, knowing You will answer. (Hebrews 4:16)
- Pray expectantly, watching for Your answers. (Psalm 5:3)
- Pray patiently, waiting on Your perfect timing. (Psalm 40:1)
- Pray with submission, yielding to Your will and not my own. (1 John 5:14-15)
When I doubt, remind me You are the God who still works wonders and displays His power among His people. (Psalm 77:14) May I trust Your ability to do the impossible, believing the same might You displayed to raise Christ from the dead is at work in my difficult situation as well. (Ephesians 1:19-20)
In the name of the one who can do immeasurably more than I could ask or imagine,
Amen.
For further prayer and meditation:
“We can have confidence in God because we have His unbreakable Word and all the promises that are in it; we can trust a God Who has all power; we can trust God because he knows what’s ahead; and we can trust God to even use evil for good so ‘be confident; God is able.’”
