Prayer

By August 9, 2023Keeping it Real

Kids: from the moment they enter our world, us moms (and dads) worry about our brood. From kindergarten to college, back-to-school can be a scary time – especially for moms!

There seems to be so much to worry about! According to a poll taken by the New York Post, we worry. A LOT.

Here is a top 10 list of worries:

  • Safety – Will my child be safe?
  • Teachers – Will my child have good teachers?
  • Food – Will my child have healthy choices for lunch, and will they eat lunch?
  • Friends – Will my child make friends? Will they sit alone during lunch? Will they make wise choices when it comes to their friends?
  • Education – Will my child do well academically? Will the quality of their education be good enough?
  • Homework – Will my child be overloaded with homework and struggle to keep up?
  • Financial – Will I be able to keep up financially with the added costs?
  • Extra-Curricular – Will my child make the team, play, band, etc.?
  • Illness – Will my child get sick?
  • Bullied – Will my child get bullied?

See what I mean?

As we move toward fall, the one thing you can control, that will make an enormous impact on your child (and you), is prayer because prayer affects kids of all ages. As a young mom, a mentor of mine told me to begin praying for my child from inception to forever.

It was good advice.

Only the Lord knows how many prayers were answered. Prayers for safety. Prayers for success. Prayers for their friendships and future spouses. Prayers that I would catch them when they chose to make bad choices. Prayers for their health and well-being – whether they were catching the bus or driving themselves!

Prayer got me through and most likely them as well.

Now, wherever you are on the spectrum of mothering, back-to-school brings with it joy and uncertainty, which is why we need to “pray without ceasing.” One of my favorite reminders of God hearing and answering our prayers comes from 1 John 5:14…“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of him.”

If we want to see the hand of God upon our kids, then we need to be in communication with our heavenly Father on a regular basis. Watching over our kiddos is something He delights in.

So, understanding the significance of beginning this journey with prayer and seeking God’s guidance for the road ahead will most likely make that highway a lot less bumpy.

To enhance our prayer life during this season, we are thrilled to offer you a collection of free downloadable prayer cards written by our GRM Prayer Director, Mary Faye Vasen. These prayer cards are written to inspire and uplift you (and your kids) throughout the school year.

Here’s the lowdown:

1. Prayer Cards: A Source of Inspiration

To enhance our prayer experience, we have curated a collection of beautifully designed prayer cards that cover a range of themes. These cards are more than just pieces of paper; they are reminders of God’s love and promises in our lives. Whether you’re seeking strength, guidance, or a heart of gratitude, our prayer cards are here to accompany you along the way.

2. Downloading Your Free Prayer Cards

To access these prayer cards and integrate them into your prayer time, follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Sign Up. Share your email with us (no spamming, I promise) and you will receive your FREE downloadable prayer cards.

Step 2: Download. Print. Cut. Pray. Once you receive the email, downloaded, print, and cut the cards. You may choose to punch a hole in each one and secure with a key ring for your purse, or tape them to your bathroom mirror, hang them from your fridge, or slide them in your Bible.

3. Praying Together

As a community of faith-filled women, we encourage you to share these prayer cards with your friends, family, and fellow church members. Forward your email and have them grab their own set too! Let us come together in prayer, supporting one another, and lifting our kids up in prayer together.

4. The Power of Prayer in Our Lives

Prayer is not merely a wish list or a plea for divine intervention; it is a conversation with the Creator of the universe. Through prayer, we experience God’s presence, His peace, and His guidance in our lives. As we embark on this new school year, let us remember the power of prayer and its impact on shaping not only our hearts and minds but the hearts and minds of our children, all according to God’s will.

5. Conclusion

As we approach the beginning of the new school year, let us hold steadfast in our faith and commit to a prayerful journey. May these free downloadable prayer cards serve as an invaluable resource in deepening your prayer life and drawing you closer to the heart of God.
